At the very last minute, I decided to have a photo booth at my daughters party. Well, I had considered the idea about four days before her party and I said to myself, “Self, if you want to have a party everything else has to be ready and in order before you do a photo booth”. Self actually listened to me, which rarely happens, and go her butt in gear doing everything else, and there was time to do a photobooth. I bought PVC to make a stand (but it ended up being much to windy to use) so I also said to myself, “Self, you are not to spend ANYMORE money on party projects. If you are going to a photobooth, you need to create the backdrop from items we already have”. And we were two for two – self listened again.
I went through my stash and found three options – tissue paper, streamers, or paint chips. I knew I wanted some sort of banner. I also knew the weather was calling for lots of heat and lots of wind, so I thought perhaps tissue paper and streamers wouldn’t hold up to the challenge. So paint chips it was. I started by cutting the side edge off that had all of the paint names and codes, and then cutting a triangle out of the bottom – it wasn’t exact and it wasn’t measured. (I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it was last minute. I didn’t even get pics of the process.) Then, I punched holes in the two top corners with a hole punch and strung it on some twine.
I used a white sheet for the backdrop. Because the PVC frame wouldn’t stand up to the wind, my husband nailed it to the side of our shed. I strung the banner around the sheet twice to create two banners. Then, I quickly raided my daughters dress up bin for sunglasses, hats, purses, tiaras, leis, and that sort of thing.
Let me tell you, the girls had an absolute ball! They thought it was just the grandest thing ever. What little girl doesn’t like getting dressed up and having their photo taken?
