Want to create some super cute Valentine's Day decor that will take 5 minutes and 5 dollars? Then have I got the project for you!
I had some styrofoam cones that I planned to use for Christmas but never did. I searched my craft room for something to wrap around them that was "Valentinesy", and finally came across a string of sequins that I had bought for the Confetti party we held back in December. They looked so cute wrapped around the cones!
Gather your supplies. I used two cones, 12 meters of sequin trim, hot glue, and dress pins.
To start, put a dress pin through the hole of a sequin on each strand. Make sure it is about an inch from the end, because it is easy for the first few sequins to fall off the strand. (I pulled all but one or two sequins off of the excess so it lays flatter when you wrap around it.)
Begin wrapping the strands of sequins around the cone, hot gluing in place every few inches.
Begin wrapping the strands of sequins around the cone, hot gluing in place every few inches.
When you reach the bottom, hot glue in place, and cut a couple of inches extra. Pull the extra sequins off but leave the thread (again, you don't want your last sequin too close to the end of the thread, it will fall off). Hot glue the thread to the bottom of your cone.
I put mine on the top of a couple of candlesticks that I have had for years - we're talking since high school. To make the cones stick in, I hot glued a piece of dowel to the inside of the candle holder and stuck the cone on top of it. You could also put a ring of glue around the top of the candlestick and glue the cone on top.
Not bad for $5 and 5 minutes right?!

Oh my gosh, these turned out SO cute!! I love the strands of sequins...this is totally my kind of craft!!
