Welcome to Becoming Martha!

I guess since you clicked on the "About Me" tab, you came here to learn a little bit about me and my blog. My name is Sarah and I am a mama to two wonderful princesses - aged 2 and 7. I am also a teacher, an army wife, a mother, a Christian, and a Canadian.  We live in a small town in Ontario (just outside of the national capital of Ottawa) and we moved here from Edmonton, Alberta, even though I was born and raised in Newfoundland, and am still a Newfie at heart.

Becoming Martha is a crafts and DIY blog which shares almost anything to do with living a domesticated life. Posts related to projects, crafts, parenting, recipes, and travelling, as well as personal stories of trials and triumphs, may all be found here from time to time.

I am a passionate and dedicated person, and topping my list of passions are children (surprise, right, given that I am a teacher?)  I wish so desperately that every child could be loved and treasured so much that they felt safe enough to develop their full potential.  Imagine what a world that would be!  On a less philosophical front, I am also passionate about creating a warm and inviting home, and creating and planning wonderful parties and events for our group of friends.

The one question everyone hates in an interview is what are your weaknesses?  I will be very forthcoming with you, since I love you so much.  I hate cooking and my floors are almost always dirty.  My youngest daughter is often permitted to wear flip flops three sizes too big for her and her hair is usually in her face.  I am extremely forgetful, and if I do not write it down, I will forget it.  Even if I do write it down, I will probably still forget it.  And lastly, I am usually almost always late to social events... but amazingly, never late to work - phew.

The best thing about my life is being mother to these two girls.

And what do I do for fun when I'm not ignoring my dirty floors, messy child, and running late?  I craft  I create.  I indulge in Ben & Jerry's Half Baked ice cream.  I watch Big Brother (don't judge).  I talk to my sisters, who I miss dearly.  And I blog.
